(AhlulBayt News Agency) - The 'Christians and the Muhammadan Covenants' event brought together Muslims and Christians of all denominations, and from across Scotland and the UK, in an academic setting conducive to dialogue and learning on Monday 19 Sep. 2016.
It strengthened hierarchical and grassroots Christian–Muslim relations through reflections on the covenantal documents of the Holy Prophet Muhammad [saw] in relation to his alliances with those of the Abrahamic faiths.
The keynote lecturers were Imam Sayed Ali Abbas Razawi, Director-General of the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, and Dr Anthony Allison, of the Bishops’ Committee for Interreligious Dialogue.
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt. Rev. Dr Russell Barr, gave the Vote of Thanks.
Representation was had from a cross-section of religious, diplomatic, political, public and third sector deputations, Sunni and Shia community leaders and clerics, the board of Scottish Islamic Unity Alliance, Christian leaders and ministers from all of Scotland’s Churches, and congregational representation.
Thanks to the Scottish Ahlul Bayt Society, Sunni community of Glasgow, the Church of Scotland, the Catholic Church, the Scottish Episcopal Church, the presbytery of Glasgow ecumenical relations of the Church of Scotland and the Trades House Glasgow for contributing at 'Christians and the Muhammadan Covenants' event.
